Lead futures were trading higher during morning trade in the domestic market on Thursday as investors and speculators build up fresh bets in the industrial metal amid increase in physical demand for lead, from battery-makers, in the domestic spot market. Further, an upward trend in physical demand from battery-makers in the domestic spot market, supported prices of lead at futures trade. At the MCX, lead futures for February 2017 contract is trading at Rs 158.60 per kg, up by 0.54 per cent, after opening at Rs 158.20, against a previous close of Rs 157.75. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 158.65 (at 11:06 hours).

Aluminium futures rose during morning trade in the domestic market on Thursday as investors and speculators build up fresh bets in the industrial metal amid increase in physical demand for aluminium at the domestic spot market. Further, a rise in physical demand for aluminium at the domestic spot market was led by widening of positions by traders in the spot markets, supported aluminium prices at futures trade. At the MCX, aluminium futures for February 2017 contract is trading at Rs 122.70 per kg, up by 0.41 per cent, after opening at Rs 122.40, against a previous close of Rs 122.20. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 122.75 (at 11:03 hours).

Mentha oil futures were trading lower during morning trade in the domestic market on Thursday as investors and speculators remained on the sidelines in the agri-commodity amid muted physical demand for mentha oil from major consuming industries in the domestic spot market. Further, trimming of positions by traders in the spot market was due to fall in physical demand for mentha oil from consuming industries at the domestic spot market against sufficient stocks position on higher supplies from producing regions, influenced mentha oil prices at futures trade. At the MCX, mentha oil futures for February 2017 contract is trading at Rs 1008.80 per kg, down by 0.28 per cent, after opening at Rs 1010.80, against the previous closing price of Rs 1011.60. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 1008.20 (at 10:59 hours).

Crude oil futures closed lower in the domestic market on Wednesday as U.S. government data showed the biggest rise in crude supplies in three months. Prices also continued to draw support from estimates that show that major oil producers are easing back their production levels. At the MCX, crude oil futures for February 2016 contract closed at Rs 3585 per barrel, down by 0.80 per cent, after opening at Rs 3608, against a previous close of Rs 3614. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 3568.

Silver futures closed lower in the domestic market on Wednesday as participants engaged in trimming their positions taking weak cues from global market. Marketmen attributed the fall in silver prices at futures trade to a weak trend in the precious metals overseas and profit-booking by participants at existing levels. At the MCX, silver futures for March 2017 contract closed at Rs 41,840 per kg, down by 0.17 per cent, after opening at Rs 41,893, against a previous close of Rs 41,911. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 41,701.

Gold futures closed lower in the domestic market on Wednesday as the Federal Reserve stood pat on interest rates, as expected, and offered few clues on the central bank’s next move. Prices for the metal declined for the session as the dollar strengthened after healthy U.S. economic reports, including a better-than-expected snapshot of private-sector hiring, which some saw as lifting the odds of a series of interest-rate hikes from the Fed. At the MCX, gold futures for February 2017 contract ended at Rs 28843 per 10 grams, down by 0.34 per cent, after opening at Rs 28,873 against a previous close of Rs 28,942. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 28,800.
